Observing Our Thoughts - Dan Harrison & Chris Hopper

DOWNLOAD OR STREAM ABOVE

This week on the Ascend podcast we bring to you our new feature on the podcast called observing our thoughts. This new feature to the podcast is really going to give you a lot of interesting insight and value. We always have new thoughts, questions, new concepts, new tools, new ideas, new philosophy's we are playing with, or toying with in our mind's so we are now going to share them all with you.

In my experience, one of the keys to personal development and ultimately self-understanding is observing your own thoughts, observing what your heart feels and what your body experiences.  tapping into and developing this self-observing system is essential for mental and spiritual growth. Just as physical exercise is important to our well-being, regular self-observation practice is beneficial to our mental well-being. It is through anliziling our own thoughts that we become aware of our patterns and preoccupations.  By becoming more aware of our habitual modes of thinking, feeling and behaving we are better able to direct our attention and make empowering, conscious choices. Monitoring our thought-life enhances our experience of reality. When we practice self-observation we are becoming more aware of the “thinker” behind the thought.

AP 97 - What Happens In The Afterlife - Mark Mirabello

DOWNLOAD OR STREAM ABOVE

“I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some thinking, feeling, remembering part of me will continue. But as much as I want to believe that, and despite the ancient and worldwide cultural traditions that assert an afterlife, I know of nothing to suggest that it is more than wishful thinking.”
Carl Sagan

We all have question of the afterlife which we explore at some point in our lives, we often question our legacy. Maybe that's an egotistical approach expecting that the ego is often going to be forever submerged in the belly of history.

But maybe the idea of living forever is somewhat misleading, even though it has being the centre for our history. Alexander the great, Napoleon. The movie Troy was one of the first films that made me analyse legacy, with Achilles himself constantly looking at his Legacy, he is binded by it, so much that he even sacrifices his choice of a happy, peaceful life, to a one of certain doom against the Trojans, the prediction by his visionary mother.

Achilles himself constantly proceeded on his vision of living forever, with quests of immortality, knowing that his actions, his bravery , his understanding of how actions will remain throughout the longing of time. Understanding of how the gods envy our mortal frame, is what makes us unique. A powerful insight on the importance of being human and living in the moment, because ultimately death will happen to us all, and everything what we have gained in this life will be surrendered, family, friends, memorys, loved ones, all eventually leave us, maybe never to be repeated again.. but even though before the inevitable, just look at what you have and appreciate it because ultimately death is the factor that makes life beautiful, makes us understand the process of life..

Achilles was at understanding of how important it was to cement your name in the sands of time, but was he at an understanding that death itself is the creation of life, his name now is spoken with bravery, he will live on through the history books for the rest of time. That is not the path for us all, for many of us the harsh reality is that after, our children's, children have came and past even our name will be forgotten in time, and ultimately when we can even surrender our names to history, can we truly appreciate life..

AP 96 - Finding Out Who You Truly Are - Matt Belair & Michael Sanders

DOWNLOAD OR STREAM ABOVE

“You’ll learn, as you get older, that rules are made to be broken. Be bold enough to live life on your terms, and never, ever apologize for it. Go against the grain, refuse to conform, take the road less travelled instead of the well-beaten path. Laugh in the face of adversity, and leap before you look. Dance as though EVERYBODY is watching. March to the beat of your own drummer. And stubbornly refuse to fit in.”
Mandy Hale

It's ironic that people perceive finding yourself as a selfish act, but exploring yourself is the most unselfish act you can do. You can't live to the expectations of other people, just as though they cant live to yours. Soon as you find the path of who you want to be, giving people the opportunity to follow you on this rewarding path is the most rewarding act and gift a individual can receive.

Along the way you get the opportunity to awaken others in this pursuit of who you are, so they to can look inside and create their own way of living this amazing life. When you ask yourself who am I, its usually in the mist of some deep crisis when you call upon yourself to power on through but the truth is that the identity of yourself is hidden, even in the face of adversity. The only knowing of thy ones self is through the constant daily analytical critical thinking in which you yourself ask the deepest and most thought provoking questions, momentary situations which require your true self to be revealed but the constant process of understanding is a long and dubious process, but its the most rewarding.

So I take deep pride in telling you this that, after 29 years on this planet, i'm still no further forwarding in understanding who and what I am. The only understanding I have of my own existence is that I am here, and that I am looking for a place where the mind can be free of societal blames and constructs and that I have a constant urge to please others and myself, to live a happy rewarding life. Sounds very self orientated but yet connected through the idea of unity through the universe. Its beautifully put that through philosophy do we ever find the answers to who we are?

Well here to answer questions on finding yourself, are 2 of our favourites Matt Belair, and Micheal Sanders. Our favourite earthly brothers from Mother Earth, answer some of the deep and mind altering questions that have stumped mankind throughout the ages. Anyways this is a powerhouse , so make the most of it.

"To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others." Tony Robbins

We often curse the universe for the problems that we have, but forget to bless it for what we have being given. Life is filled with un answered questions but its the journey of discovery which helps expand the human experience

The questions with no answer really show to us that human possibilities are endless, the beauty is that we have unlimited questions, we are always seeking the questions in life. These questions change the dynamic of the brain. First of all questions give you power. They put you in charge of the conversation. When you ask a question, there is a strong social pressure for the other person to answer the question. As long as you keep asking questions, you are in charge of the conversation.

the asking questions that break open the doors of perception in the mind, like books they have the key in order to become a philosopher, you need to open up. If you require science to give you all the answers you will be forever seeking the external to give you the validations you need to receive, but if you also embrace philosophy. you mind starts seeking internally. But the beauty of life is when you can mix them together.

AP 94 - Ancient Cultures, Consciousness, Sacred Sites - Freddy Silva

DOWNLOAD OR STREAM ABOVE

"The More you know about the past, the better prepared you are for the future."  Theodore Roosevelt

Megaliths, ancient temples and other sacred sites mirror the perfection of the universe. They were built  with devotion and precision to last, by people with an unerring belief and knowledge of universal laws. These ancient architects understood the flow of subtle energy, located its hotspots, and by applying a combination of geomancy, sacred geometry and earth magic they created living spaces capable of influencing the human body’s state of consciousness.

Essentially temples are portals, living intermediaries between material and spiritual. They are meeting places of heavenly and earthly power. And in addition to tracking the sun, moon and stars, they are used for healing, divination, the teaching of Mysteries secrets, even accessing the Otherworld. You could say sacred sites and temples are the ideal self-help centres.

Behind every pyramid and stone circle there exists a symbolic language containing the keys to ancient systems of knowledge, codes of creation, sound, sacred geometry, and how these can be applied to influence the everyday world.

This is what makes sacred places so mesmerizing. Freddy Silva

“To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.

Now this is a podcast that really make you question, what would you do for your life, and if death was standing in front of you, and he says what would you do for your life? and then unzips his trousers... Are you ready to commit to coming back?

We try and answer the biggest question of them all, a question that has really interested us our entire life.  What happens when we die?  When we look around at most of the world, when it comes to the world death, many people don't really like to go there afraid to comprehend this question??

Richard Dawkins said: We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they’re never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place, but who will in fact never see the light of day, outnumber the sand grains of Sahara. “To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.”

AP 92 - Did Jesus experience Immortality by Ingesting Visionary Plants? - Jerry B. Brown

DOWNLOAD OR STREAM ABOVE

“Objects and their functions no longer had any significance. All I perceived was perception itself, the hell of forms and figures devoid of human emotion and detached from the reality of my unreal environment. I was an instrument in a virtual world that constantly renewed its own meaningless image in a living world that was itself perceived outside of nature. And since the appearance of things was no longer definitive but limitless, this paradisiacal awareness freed me from the reality external to myself. The fire and the rose, as it were, became one.”
Federico Fellini

Psychedelics have had a profound effect on the human psyche, its being the opening up of the creative consciousness. But what if we had our first religious experience through that of psychedelics? what if psychedelic plants were the original founders of the first religion? How would that change the world?

did the world itself needs a spiritual awakening? maybe at that place in time the world needed an awakening, was the first instances of religious experiences through psychedelics found in the artwork that has being placed around the world today? does the bible itself hold clues to the psychedelic origins found in the beginning?

It's a very interesting concept and it makes us ask the question, so dive deep into this one ladies and gentlemen because this is powerful..

  • Lost In translation or covered up?
  • Human evolution.
  • Artist's leaving a hidden message to future seekers?
  • Knowledge of how well this information was actually known in history among ancient civilisations

CHECK OUT THE EVIDENCE

09_3-St_-Martin-1024x587.jpg

“About two hours east of Plain Curalt is the parish church of St. Martin, again about a thousand years old. We walked into the choir of the church a saw a Christology. A story of the life of Christ. In this particular fresco, you have Christ entering Jerusalem. What we see here is the joyful youth greeting Jesus as he enters Jerusalem. They’re holding onto the stems of large, tan, smooth psilocybin mushrooms. Again, they’re very large because the artist wants to call our attention to them.”

“We found evidence of psychedelics in nearly 10 percent of all the art at Chartres Cathedral. Here’s one example. This is the conversion of Placidas the hunter. In his moment of illumination when he becomes Saint Eustace, he is surrounded by what we believe are psilocybin mushrooms. And there, coming down from the heavens through concentric circles, we see the hand of the holy spirit pouring illumination into Saint Eustace’s head and here it is, in the context of magic mushrooms.”

“Our first stop was in a tiny chapel in Plain Curalt in the center of France, about 60 feet deep and 20 feet wide. On the back wall is this fresco of Adam and Eve painted about a thousand years ago. It depicts the figures flanking an Amanita mushroom complete with red and white dots meticulously and systematically drawn on the cap with other mushrooms clustered around the base. Adam and Eve are not covering themselves with fig leafs, but with mushroom caps. This led us to a complete reinterpretation of the Eden story.”

“At the Canterbury scriptorium, a place where bibles were created from the time of Thomas Becket. There, the illuminated bible called “The Great Canterbury Psalter” was created. This was a large leather-bound, jewel-studed book with gold inlays. It was made for, maybe the king of France or the king of England. It’s richly illustrated. This image comes from Genesis, from the very first page and it is the front piece of our book. This is supposed to depict “God creates plants,” but wait a minute, here is “God creating psychoactive mushrooms.'”

AP 91 - How Do You Know You’re Not Dreaming? - Robert Waggoner

"The best thing about dreams is that fleeting moment, when you are between asleep and awake, when you don't know the difference between reality and fantasy, when for just that one moment you feel with your entire soul that the dream is reality, and it really happened."                          James Arthur Baldwin

Have a look at your surroundings right now. I mean really look. Is any of it real? This is a question we at Ascend keep asking ourselves. How is it that you can see everything in such detail? Such a perfect understanding that we are 100% sure that this reality we are in is the complete understanding of this reality?

What processes occur in your brain to make vision possible?

What if you trip your information processing and the things you can see become a little less tangible? Ask yourself is what's real for you, is it what's real for me?

When you become conscious in the dream state, you have an astonishing opportunity to experience a vivid and tangible dream world that is not at all real. It's mind-altering. Your complete perception of the waking reality is reduced to a tiny thread of what was there before

Just think about that: in a sleep state, where your body is processing only the tiniest amounts of external stimuli, your internal world is as rich as ever. Your brain realistically reproduces a world with houses, trees, gravity, air, emotions, atoms (in fact anything you can conceive of) and it all feels very, very real.

While limited to the scope of your experience and unconscious imagination, the lucid dream world is still a sensational place with an uncanny capacity to mimic reality.

This special phenomenon, reserved only for those bold enough to delve into this extraordinary state of awareness, provides a safe and natural way to explore the depths of human consciousness. It has the potential to alter the way in which we regard the world around us for the rest of our lives. Rebecca Turner

  • how lucid dreams can give you exactly what you want?
  • is it an opening of consciousness?

I don't think we will ever find an answer that truly calms the creative soul. You have such a beautiful insight into this world, through your own two eyes. But is there something far beyond that of which the eyes cannot see? That in itself is where the power of our guest lies in, Dennis McKenna. The man is truly an artist when it comes to the understanding of the human mind and the consciousness from the plants.

What is it that we ask for plants, they are the utmost creators of life on this planet, with no plants is no life. So why do mistake and miss out on all this powerful vast intelligence? why do we believe we are the utmost smartest and most intelligent being in existence. Well through the awakening of an Ayahuasca experience, we really begin to filter out the construct of the visual plain, and go deep into the far reaches of the mind, of nature and of existence to uncover the greatest and most powerful understanding we get of who we are.

We currently live in the bubble, the bubble which is lost in the societal trap. we get lost with our phones our laptops and even our own identity. But strip that away and what do you have, truly what is left if you haven't even got a name. We were given a name to keep us locked on this limited plain. But without any limitations and chains which bind us the truth is we are what we intended to be. A crucial component of this world, a part of nature, the complete universe living and breathing through consciousness.

AP 89 - Exploring Human Consciousness - Kevin Johnson

DOWNLOAD OR STREAM ABOVE

“Having visions is easy. The mind never stops oozing the sap and juice of fantasy, and then congealing this play into paranoid monuments of eternal truth. And then are not these seemingly mind-blowing events of light, of synchronicity, of spiritual sight in an LSD trip often trivial – seeing the universe revealed in a buttonhole stitch or linoleum pattern – at least as trivial as what takes place in a usual therapy session that picks apart the tangles of the daily domestic scene.” JAMES HILLMAN

Ayahuasca is one of the most profound trips in the world, the trip is essentially the strongest and most prolific life experience, anybody can fully take. What is it that we truly find in Ayahuasca, is it ourselves? Is it mother nature? Is it the entirety of the universe coming together in that one single moment? Who knows, we all have our own spiritual understanding of it. That is why we are lucky to here from previous guest Kevin Johnson, who gives us a deep peak down the black hole that is exploring human consciousness.

The idea of finding out who you truly are is a complex journey, do we ever truly know who we are? is our ego who we truly are? many questions about identity are raised when going through the Ayahuasca journey. We go deep into the mind of Kevin Johnson, who shows us all the answers and new questions received through float tanks and Ayahuasca.
