“It’s easier to build strong children than it is to fix broken men” Frederick Douglas
When you look at the men and women of today, you can trace almost any aspect of their character to their parents. There is a great saying which sticks in my mind for the day I become a father, and that is “In each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children.”the quote sticks with me because it reiterates the point of how important our message is to our children, and the complete responsibility of parenting.
Children are a blessing, but the work required to look after and care for them is monumental. We therefore look to what society says is best and we follow that. Not many of us would change the way we live our lives because society has demanded we follow the mainstream view of parenting. Children are then just placed in front of a TV, watch advertising for expensive flashy products and fall into the same consumerism culture that feeds a brain dead individual.
To be a parent is to be present. This is what it's all about. A child’s mind is fragile. It needs to be nurtured not to be locked away in their room, to play on screens and to forget about.
So that is why we look at people like Adele and admire the strength and courage to go against societies guidance and follow the true honest heart of a parent. Which we all have inside us.
What advice would you have to us to become a better parent?
